Ribs, broken rib and wave structures lend a building either lightness or solidity. They can pick up on existing lines of the building structure and give it additional contour. They enable straight and aesthetic structural guidance, can be cut off and broken, vertical, horizontal and slanted. Used in noise barriers, ribs and corrugations can enlarge the surfaces and, combined with the right concrete, contribute to higher sound absorption.
